Liam Scanlon
Liam is a native of Glenhest, Newport. After graduating from Mary Immaculate College Limerick, Liam worked in Scoil an Línbh Íosa, Prosperous, as a mainstream class teacher for several years. Since returning to Mayo, Liam has worked in a variety of educational settings at all levels including multi-stream, special education and gaelscoileanna.
Liam has a keen interest in the curricular areas of Music, Social Environmental Science Education (SESE) and Gaeilge. Liam looks forward to bringing these interests and skills to the team at Castlebar Educate Together National School.
Liam is a strong believer in the integral role of arts education in the holistic and meaningful development of the child.
Liam holds a Masters in Traditional Dance Performance from the University of Limerick. He is a frequent tutor and lecturer in dance at the Irish World Academy, a Dance Ireland Associate Artist, an assistant director at The Leitrim Dance Project, as well as a sought after traditional dance collaborator, choreographer and performer. All of this has enabled Liam to travel and share his love of Irish culture with students as far afield as Canada, Japan and New Zealand.
