Castlebar Educate Together NS - Vision
"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world". Nelson Mandela
Castlebar ETNS Development
We envision that Castlebar Educate Together will grow to a full primary school with classes from Junior Infants to Sixth Class. We aim for our school to develop as a centre of excellence for teaching and learning in an environment of inclusivity and mutual respect. We look forward to working with the children in our care to help them reach their full potential, by nurturing their uniqueness and individuality. We believe school is at the heart of the local community.
Parents Association, Board of Management
Educate Together promotes democracy in every aspect of the running of Educate Together schools so naturally Castlebar Educate Together NS will be democratically run. Democracy also applies to policy development for our school, our Parents Association, Board of Management and eventually our Student Council. As Sarah, our principal, has previously worked in an Educate Together school she is very aware of the philosophy of Educate Together and fully supports the democratic decisions made.
Core Curriculum
The core curriculum for Educate Together nationally and Castlebar Educate Together locally focusses on the "Learn Together Curriculum." The core tenets of this curriculum are Equality and Justice, Moral and Spiritual, Ethics and the Environment and Belief Systems. The overall aim is to help children to learn to live together and that no child is an outsider. There are currently 97 Educate Together primary schools in Ireland with six in Galway and now three in Mayo, the others being at Newtownwhite, Ballina and Westport.
